I'd take Mariota, Mannion, someone like that over him.
I actually think Winston is the more talented QB and if he had the personal qualities Mariota has it would be a no brainier for me who I would pick. The problem is he does not.

Drafting him would be a boom or bust proposition. I can't see how the team at this point could possibly take that risk. So Mariota is my guy also but coming from his system does make me a little leery even though I still pull the trigger on him.

We're 100%$ in agreement. I feel we're heading into a QB class with Kaepernick and Newton/RG3 sitting at the top of the class, and I don't feel either is a sure thing or a true franchise QB...so we're left with the lesser of two evils and a QB that still isn't Manning, Rodgers, Luck, Brady or Brees...kind of sucks to be honest, but we have to take what we can get I guess.

55, I'll take Kapernick any day, even with those shortcomings. He's a great runner, has a tremendous arm and has been to a SB and back to back NFC Championship games. He's played well in the playoffs. He's a very good player. You can win a championship with him for sure. He has unique physical skills and is a good football player. He's not Peyton Manning, that's not his game. But he can play.

    From Tony Pauline on draftinsider.net

Marcus Mariota/QB/Oregon: Usually I don’t list players such as Mariota as risers. I mean how much higher can a player presently at the top climb? That being the case I was literally in awe watching the junior quarterback perform against Stanford, whose defense ranked best in the PAC 12 in every category. Numbers aside, (19 of 30 passing for 258 yards and 2 TD’s with 85 yards rushing on 9 carries and 2 more scores), Mariota’s performance was NFL caliber in every way. He made NFL-type passes, NFL-type decisions and was in complete control of the offense. When he took off and ran with the ball Mariota resembled a sprinter on the football field. It was my belief Mariota would have been the first player drafted had he entered the 2014 draft and without pause he sits atop my list for 2015.

He's better than what we have, agreed.

It will be interesting to see if we hire an offensive minded coach that he seems like a fit within his system.

There's like an entire season's worth of Mark Sanchez highlights on that video. Shocked

I didn't watch the videobecause I'm on my phone, but there's a lot of reports today the Eagles won't resign Foles to big money this spring as some anticipated which opens the door to him walking.

I think Foles, Manual, and Glennon will all be available this spring as young developmental projects.

I remember something coming out of Philly very early on this season about Foles......that in camp they weren't overly impressed......and to date his numbers have not been anything near what he did last year.....plus he was an Andy Reid pick, not the current regime.

I'd take a shot at Foles. I have zero faith in EJ Manuel as an NFL QB. Not a fan of Glennon either - he just seems to be check down happy. Wasn't all that impressive at NC St.

I doubt very seriously the Eagles are going to let Nick Foles leave, He's been a winner for them, and with Sanchez & Barkley as back-ups, that would be a stupid decision on the Eagles part IMO.

Glennon is a huge 6'6" pocket passer who has slow feet and a big arm. He might stay long enough to groom Mariota or Winston next season ?

Foles was not a Chip Kelly pick. He may prefer to ride Sanchez while taking another shot at this year's draft.

Plus the Eagles feel Chip Kelley turned them around, not Foles.

I was all about drafting Foles at the time. I wanted to put him in the pipeline behind Sanchez and got killed for it at the time. I would love a second shot at him.

Vick is on a 1 year deal, Foles vs a rookie QB would be interesting. I'd prefer Foles over Vick.

Again though, none of this is easily determined until we know our HC, OC, and QB coach for 2015, IMO.

If we had a Norv Turner type, Foles would be perfect for his system. I think he works for Marty's version of the WCO, I don't think he works well in Kubiak's (as an example).

I know "you" like certain types, but if we land Seattle's OC, I think Mariota would be a better investment. My 2 cents.

I do like Mariota. My preference is more about size and arm strength. I want my QB to be able to make all the throws. I do slightly lean towards an in the pocket passer but I think mobility is important (Luck) and want any QB we have to have it. I do agree on the system being a good match with what ever QB we end up with being important.

...add Cy's boy Drew Stanton though as a QB who will be available and helped guide them to 7-1. He only completed 49% of his passes in those games, but 2 TDs and 0 INTs in 3 games started riding that D and those WRs. To me, he's a top of the line back-up QB, but wont be shocked if someone gives him a chance to start.

Not sure Stanton would give the Jets the time of day after what happened last time here.

i assume the Jets will be getting the 3rd or 4th pick in the draft. Wouldn't Mariota be gone by then?

The problem is if the Raiders land the top pick.  They'll probably draft Mariotta if Carr keeps struggling like Jimmy Clausen(2nd round) did for the Panthers when Carolina drafted Newton with the number one pick.

    Here's my issue:
If the Jaguars pick 1st, they'd surely take Cooper, but they might trade down to three with some one else too acquaire more picks if we choose 2nd overall, most notably the Titans, Raiders, Tampa Bay or the Rams.
Then we're stuck with a Manning/Leaf situation..do we pick the QB that may have the most unsettling backround in Winston? I'd say no and do anything possible to land Mariota.

AT THIS POINT, IT'S IMPERATIVE TO TANK THE SEASON. IMPERATIVE!

I think the Jets may have to trade a 1 and 3 this year and a 1 next year to move from #3 to #1 and ensure Mariota. I think you have to do it and get your QB.

    No way I take Winston.

Agree 100% on Winston. I think it's more likely that guy spends time in jail than has a big NFL career.

IDK, maybe that's the value based on that point scale they use but that seems like too much to give up to me.
