Georgia's old DC Mike Bobo took the head coaching job at Colorado State vacated by Bama's old OC Jim McElwain, who left to be HC at Florida (Schottenhiemer's Alma Mater) where he hired the guy who replaced him at Bama, Doug Nussmeir, formerly of Michigan, as his OC.

Rams confirm. Brian Schottenheimer headed to Georgia. Rams are officially in market for an offensive coordinator.
I see he got off that bus before being thrown in front of it.
For a guy that gets executed as much as he does by some Jets fans, it's interesting how the guy keeps getting jobs. He's doing something right.
Yeah, he had the wisdom and foresight to be born with the last name Schottenheimer.

I'm going to assume that teams know a lot more about Brian Schottenheimer than just his last name. I'll give their hiring people more credit than that.

Good hire by Tampa. If Rex gets the Falcons job, he'll have to pick his own oc now . Matt Ryan would be better off calling the plays himself.

Yeah that's a haul, but when your life depends on it, you find energy reserves you never knew you had.
I wonder how long he was in the water? Must have been close to 12 hours. He had to have been spent by the time he reached shore. How good did terra firma feel then, huh?

The Cleveland Browns are just beginning their search for a new offensive coordinator after granting Kyle Shanahan his release from the team on Thursday.
Their offensive roster is replete with question marks -- including whether Johnny Manziel is capable of becoming a legitimate NFL starter, who will handle running-back duties and whether Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron (free agent) will be with the team in 2015 -- so it may not be the greatest destination for an OC.
Nonetheless, several names already have been connected to the OC opening:
Charlie Weis: As I noted Thursday, the first name that popped up was the former New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, as Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports tweeted that Weis should "be among the possibilities to replace Shanahan in CLE".
Marc Trestman: Per ESPN Browns reporter Jeremy Fowler, "Marc Trestman's name has come up in the #Browns' OC search and Trestman would be interested in talking, according to a source." Trestman, of course, recently was fired as head coach of the Chicago Bears.
Matt Cavanaugh: "Former Bears quarterbacks coach and Youngstown native Matt Cavanaugh, who has a long history with Browns coach Mike Pettine, is on the Browns' radar for their offensive coordinator job, a source told Northeast Ohio Media Group Thursday," wrote Mary Kay Cabot. The long-time quarterbacks coach most recently worked with the Chicago Bears and was the Baltimore Ravens OC when they won the Super Bowl during the 2000 season.
John DeFilippo: Cabot added that, "Another possible Browns offensive coordinator candidate, former Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, also hails from Youngstown and has worked with Cavanaugh and Pettine."
Since the biggest question mark on the Browns offense is at quarterback, we should expect their next OC to specialize in that departement -- or more specifically, he should specialize in Johnny Football:
Jeremy Fowler
Browns should open wallet for next OC -- one that speaks Johnny Football
"The next guy must speak Johnny Football -- either that or it’s time to move on, because what’s the point? If you don’t tailor the offense around Manziel’s skill set, then you’re wasting the things he actually does well, making clear and decisive throws with an above-average arm or scrambling for yards without having to make three reads on one play. Manziel wasn’t asked to do that at Texas A&M. Give him more as you go, but bring the game to him first. Then get on him if he's late to a walk-through. Challenge him to maximize his ability."

To think that's the best list of OCs they could come up with...holy hell, Browns fans started the season with hope, that went away real fast and their future doesnt look so bright right now, IMO. Haden also looked terrible last year and the scouting report about him being slow, is starting to look correct. he got punished by the deep ball this year. Many on Sirius dont even consider him a top CB any more. Hopefully he bounces back next year.

The Patriots are taking care of some contractual business ahead of Saturday’s game against the Ravens.
Field Yates of ESPN.com reports that they’ve extended the contract of running back Brandon Bolden. The news comes shortly after news of an extension for safety Patrick Chung.
Bolden’s deal will now run through the 2016 season and is set to pay him $3.2 million with $300,000 in guaranteed money.
Bolden joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and has run the ball 139 times for 634 yards and six touchdowns for the team over the last three seasons. He’s also been a core member of their special teams units, recording 12 tackles in that role since joining the team.
With Chung and Bolden dealt with, the Patriots can move on to other prospective free agents like Darrelle Revis, Devin McCourty and Stephen Gostkowski once the time comes to turn attention to those matters at the end of the season.

The San Jose Mercury News' Tim Kawakami's "guess" is that the Raiders will name Tony Sparano head coach.

Rex Ryan - DT - Free Agent
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Rex Ryan is interested in bringing in Marc Trestman as his offensive coordinator if Ryan lands a head coaching position.
Rapoport says the duo would like to "pair up." It would be a match made in heaven. No one would question the defensive credentials of Ryan, but the Jets finished in the bottom five of the league in scoring offense in each of Ryan's last three seasons in New York. Trestman was very successful as the Raiders' offensive coordinator during the team's Super Bowl run in 2002 and led one of the best offenses in the league his first year in Chicago. Ryan has interviewed with the Bills and Falcons since being released by the Jets.
