Just ignores the fact that these execs turn down everyone, not just the Jets. It's not a Jets thing. But that doesn't fit the LOLJets mantra.

funny (well not really).  a friend of mine who's a jets fan, but doesn't follow closely like people on this site, sent me this same link saying how the jets are a disaster.  my response was - deadspin?  lol

then i had to explain to him how the article had no content and didn't mention stuff like decosta turning everyone down or ballard likely getting the bears job, etc.

I know, it's Deadspin. You're right, it lacks credibility on the surface.

Im not in love with any of these guys (every guy I start to like turns us down). Of these names, you think Maccagnan is higher regarded than Kirchner? You could be 100% correct, Sarge...but wasnt Kirchner in charge of the seattle scouting department? I thought he'd be one of the hotter prospects also.

Maybe Grier's son, Chris, could help us get that special qb.

Getting McCloughan in the mix is a way to ease Quinn's concerns about personnel experience from GM/FO, which has been a reported holdup






Supposedly, Quinn is unsure if Kirchner is ready for the responsibilities of a gm. Would like him to have a "guide" of sorts.

I didn't see how the Redskins followed the Rooney Rule with this hire. How were they able to just hire McCloughan without going through the process?

For all we know they already did a quiet token interview to satisfy the rule

Bruce Allen. He was team president/gm. Now, he'll just retain the president title.

redskins have also interviewed rod graves, so they met the rooney requirement

I'm going to guess an announcement will be made Friday. It seems all coach and GM interviews will be wrapped up today. The Triumvirate can sleep on it tonight have a breakfast meeting to decide tomorrow, finalize the contract terms and hold a press conference Friday.

If I had to guess I'd say MacCagnan and Marrone but it could be Kirshner and Quinn

Not sure why we are shocked that potential GM candidates keep turning the job down ? With a track record like below, would anyone want to risk moving there family to N.J. for such an unstable job opportunity ? Would you guy's take our job after the way we screwed Idzik and many others before him.

Only 32 of these jobs even exist...and with the following name on that list:

Jets GM/HC - Rich Kotite 95-96
Jets GM/HC - Bill Parcells 97-2000
Jets GM - Terry Bradway 2001-2005
Jets GM - Mike Tannenbaum 2006-2012
Jets GM - John Idzik 2013-2014

...it wouldn't be hard to be the best GM the Jets have had in the past 20 years (including over Parcells). Even a mediocre GM could be the best Jets GM in 20 years.

That list is a who's who list of garbage GMs, IMO.

cy, the jets have interviewed 6 people for the job. of the 4 that "turned them down", two (decosta and paton) have turned down numerous interview requests over the years, one (ballard) is very likely to get the bears job (he used to be a scout there), and one (pace) just got a promotion with the saints.

don't buy into the media story that the jets are a terrible place to work and tons of people are turning them down. a number of these guys were long-shots to take the interview in the first place.

If anything, the Jets are doing their due diligence in reaching out to these guys. I'm sure they realize they were longshots, but worth giving it a try.

Greg, I hear you, but lets be honest, the Jets have basically been a dysfunctional team since their inception 55 years ago. Only Weeb Eubank & the Big Tuna are the only 2 desirable names off that long list, and Parcells did not handle the cap, only football decisions.

I still think the cap job needs to go to a financial wiz and the GM role should be only player related (draft, free agency, etc.). Tough to mix the 2 jobs.

I agree Woody said all along he wanted the process to be completed. For me I be happy with either one of those but prefer K&Q .... hope your right.
