they know...this isn't rocket science.....gimmick QBs get GMs fired.

Then pass on both QBs. Jimbo's single read offense hasn't exactly helped any of his QBs succeed in the nfl...ask Ponder and Manuel.

valid point. Look at RGIII...he's a mess and according to story today, ex-Redskin Chris Cooley has detailed just how bad Griffin is at QB. He's another that can't read a defense with bad mechanics...and now the yips.

You just can't ignore the trappings of these college systems that bamboozle so many opinions. If you play in one of those read option offenses like a Mariota or Hundley, you are woefully unprepared to play QB in NFL. Drafting one that high is fool's gold.

Sarge, how would you compare Cooper and Julio Jones as prospects?

Julio is a lot bigger and stronger and has better hands, better blocker

Cooper is smaller, faster, more explosive, better runner, probably a more consistent route runner

I'd put Julio just barely ahead as a pro prospect coming out of college just on overall size and durability

Do the Jets draft Cooper then wait for the Winston freefall and trade back into the 1st for him?

Winston will be a top 10 pick by the draft, no doubt.

Yeah, a team is gonna get either Cooper or Winston, not both. I do think there are 8 REALLY good WRS at the top of this draft though

@RichCimini The Jets will have to trade up to get Mariota or Winston, will they do so or settle for a less talented QB? #jetsmail

@RichCimini: You're right, they will probably have to trade up to get Marcus Mariota, assuming he turns pro. The demand for Mariota will be high, because two other teams in the projected top 5 figure to be in the quarterback market -- the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans. The team that trades out of the No. 1 or No. 2 spot will make a killing. At this point, it's impossible to predict the Jets' interest in Jameis Winston because of his off-the-field issues. Clearly, he's a blue-chip talent, but his baggage could cause him to drop. He could be sitting there for the Jets and, man, wouldn't that be compelling theater? After Mariota and Winston, there is a big fall-off to Brett Hundley, but things could change with the bowl games, all-star games and pre-draft workouts. Typical Jets luck; they get a high draft pick and one of the top quarterbacks happens to be a knucklehead.

Winston is a blue chip talent? No NFL scout thinks so.

RG3 is dumb as a rock, we don't know that about Mariota, pretty sure that's evident when it comes to Winston.

I would have no complaints drafting Amari Cooper WR with our 1st pick. Especially after his huge game against Auburn last night. Plus Cooper was playing with a knee brace on. He is the next Julio Jones out of Alabama.

It's about a 95% lock the Raiders will end up with the 1st pick, and they will trade out of the pick, but ask for a "Kings Ransom"! And even though Winston QB is a stud College QB, I'm not sure how he will translate into a NFL QB. Cooper would be no risk. Plus if Harvin WR does not re-negoiate his 10ML/per, then Cooper & Decker become #1 & #2 WR's with Kerley in the slot.

Hoping Tampa holds on at home vs Cinci. Off to an early 10-0 lead.

    Redskins crapping the bed.

Every time the Panthers play they get hammered. I'm so glad they want to extend Cam, one less team that should be looking for a QB looking for one. Next year, in a better QB class, they will be looking for one though. Cam is a mess.

Also, Mettenberger not looking great for Titans today. Wouldn't be shocked if they snag Cooper WR Bama to go with Justin Hunter.

Agreed. Rivera has only had one good season with the Panthers for all intensive purposes; funny thing is, you could say the same for Cam...and it just so happens to be that same year.

Cam is bad. Not a pocket passer. I'll keep pimping Cooper to be the Jets pick and then find a QB(s) to develop. Quite frankly, I don't think there is much of a drop off at all from the current draft favorites to the 'field' coming out. Some less heralded QB on the radar is going to emerge.

I guess what needs to be said is that there isn't a franchise QB for the Jets to draft in 2015. Call that the luck of the Jets...but that is the deal. I'd go along the lines of what SD did years ago....needing a QB, they passed on one at the top of the draft and took Tomlinson......then grabbed Brees the next round. I would take a similar course, draft a playmaker/cornerstone in 1st, and hunt for a QB later. Find a Drew Brees if one exists.
