Gamble's guy got the job. Guess they didn't want Quinn either.

    Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington · 1m 1 minute ago
I'm told Adam Gase did not get the 49ers job. Instead, the team has decided to promote Jim Tomsula, who is currently on the staff.

Not a major surprise about Tomsula. He interviewed for HC jobs in the past and was seen as a major candidate.

Madden's role in Raiders' decision to hire Del Rio was big, even bigger than GM Reggie McKenzie. Madden ultimately decided against Sparano.

interesting that so far, all the coaches who have been hired are defensive guys

    Bills - Rex
    Jets - Bowles
    Raiders - Del Rio
    Niners - Tomsula

the Bears are said to like Fox (defensive guy) and many think Atlanta will end up with Quinn (defense). if true, then only the Broncos may be hiring an offensive guy (Gase, Shannahan, Kubiak). alternatively, Quinn could end up in Denver, leaving perhaps Austin (or Gase) for Atlanta.

Titans agree with Jacoby Ford, Clyde Gates on reserve/future contracts

The Titans are adding a pair of former Jets wide receivers to their offseason roster.

Jacoby Ford and Clyde Gates, who spent the 2014 preseason with New York, have agreed to reserve/future contracts with Tennessee, the club said Wednesday.

The 27-year-old Ford appeared in 38 games for the Raiders from 2010 through 2013, returning four kickoffs for touchdowns. Ford (5-9, 190) also hauled in 57 passes for 848 yards and three touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 197-pound Gates has had regular-season stints with the Dolphins (2011) and Jets (2012-2013), catching 30 passes for 365 yards. The 28-year-old Gates also averaged 24.9 yards on kickoffs.

For a list of early 2015 signings, check out PFT’s reserve/future signings tracker.

Doug Marrone better put that $4M in the bank when he gets it. Might be a long time before he sees another paycheck like that.

Yeah, that's a bit of a step down from being HC. If he takes that job, he's going to have to deliver the goods with Bortles. He has a tremendous young WR corps to work with as well, and Marcedes Lewis isn't chopped liver at TE either. Expectations will be high.

Bradley and GM Caldwell are going to need to start showing the organizational direction; however, I feel they are a RB away from putting it together.  They're a real fun team to watch With Robinson, Hurns, and Lee in The slot, which is an awesome group of young WRs (and all 3 will be 2nd year players).  Gerhart was not the answer they hoped for last year, but give them a stud RB and I think they're cooking with gas, IMo.

Sad Oh no, please don't tell me Rex took Reach Smith with him to Buffalo ! I will miss Dunbar but hope Kacy Rodgers makes the transition a little easier.

Fascinating. The @NFL will host on March 22 in AZ the first ever NFL Veteran Combine, according to a memo sent today. It’s for veterans FAs.

From Matt Birk’s memo on the veteran combine, veteran FAs will participate in position-specific drills, timing and testing for 32 teams.

Hard to believe that a coach who was supposedy in high demand for a head coaching job might not have many opportunities when the Seahawks are officially done or Champs. Positions are filling quickly. His best option might be staying put.
