Ouch! That hurts any hope of Manuel being their answer at QB.
No chance, there never was.
Next to get benched: Geno or Tannehill?

Former Jets draft pick Jalen Saunders signed to the Ariz practice squad. So, basically, they traded Saunders for Walter Powell. #nyj

wow...i assumed we would sign him to our own practice squad. unless he decided to sign with the cardinals over us for some reason (pissed at being released, closer to home, etc...)
not good to lose a pick so quickly

The 2015 NFL draft will be held from April 30-May 2.
The 2014 draft didn't begin until May 8, drawing complaints from fans, media and teams. So the 2015 version is up a week, and will be held in either Los Angeles or Chicago instead of its usual Radio City Music Hall location. All the NCAA prospects can be tracked in our NFL Draft section. Oct 2 - 8:29 AM

Hakeem Nicks is lacking in stats, not in confidence

Colts receiver Hakeem Nicks, whose 2013 contract year in New York didn’t go so well, is off to another slow start in another contract year.
But what Nicks lacks in production he makes up for in confidence that borders on delusion.
“I still view myself as the best receiver in the league,” Nicks said, via Curt Cavin of the Indianapolis Star. “That expectation ain’t never going to change. I’ll get a chance to prove it eventually.”
He hasn’t had much of a change to prove it in Indy. Through four games, Nicks has 12 catches for 94 yards. Through four games last year with the Giants, Nicks had 12 catches for 230 yards.
The only good news for Nicks is that, after scoring zero touchdowns in 2013, Nicks already has two.
Per Cavin, Nicks has been targeted by quarterback Andrew Luck only 10.5 percent of the time, getting 18 total throws his way. T.Y. Hilton has been targeted 38 times, and veteran Reggie Wayne has had 33 targets.
“Just have to be patient,” Nicks said. “You know it’s going to be a long season. Being a receiver we all want the ball every play, but we understand that sacrifice is part of being on a team. You have to understand the play, the concept, understand to play team ball and everything will work out in the end for everybody.”
He may be right, but Nicks remains a long way from being the best receiver in the league.

EJ Manuel: I still believe I’m a good football player
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 3, 2014, 6:18 AM EDT
EJ Manuel
AP
Bills quarterback EJ Manuel isn’t letting his benching get him down.
“As a competitor it is a tough pill to swallow, but at the same time, I always want to be positive,” Manuel told the Buffalo News. “I still believe that I’m a good football player and I know there’s tons of room for me to grow. I’ll get there.”
Manuel was told that history is not on his side: Since 2007, eight first-round quarterbacks have been benched. None came back to become their team’s permanent starters again, and those who have had a chance to start because of injuries (like Manuel’s predecessor at Florida State, Christian Ponder, last night) have not done well.
“Well maybe I can be the first,” Manuel said, “Who knows. We’ll see.”
Maybe Manuel will still become the Bills’ franchise quarterback, or maybe he’ll catch on somewhere else. Or maybe when the Bills benched him for Kyle Orton, they were declaring that he just isn’t good enough, and taking him in the first round of last year’s draft was a mistake.

Revis falls short in effort to become Patriots’ NFLPA rep

Next March, former NFL player Sean Gilbert will challenge incumbent DeMaurice Smith for the position of NFLPA executive director. In many respects, the election is being determined now, as each team picks the player representatives who eventually will vote on the next executive director.
One of the most important votes for the challenger came in New England, where Gilbert’s nephew, Darrelle Revis, ran for the position of NFLPA representative. Via the NFLPA, Revis lost to special-teamer Matthew Slater.
Revis was named an alternate, along with offensive lineman Ryan Wendell and kicker Stephen Gostkowski. So there’s a chance Revis will hold the vote come March. For now, though, Slater will be the one to cast the ballot.
It’s possible Revis will persuade Slater to vote for Uncle Sean. It’s also possible Revis will persuade other representatives on other teams to do the same.
And it’s likely that, if Gilbert wins, Revis will be the player in whose name the top-secret-but-supposedly-hiding-in-plain-sight collusion claim aimed at blowing up the current labor deal will be made.
For now, though, it likely remains an uphill battle for Gilbert to unseat Smith. Especially since Gilbert’s nephew isn’t holding one of the votes.

I wasn't a fan of how Demaurice Smith handled the CBA talks back in 2011, but, Gilbert would be a disaster. Also, most likely, Revis won't be a Patriot in 2015, so why would anyone on that team listen to him in regards to who to vote for.

Gilbert would be an absolute disaster. Gilbert and Revis have tried to run several teams, and are now trying to run the entire league.

Unbelievably, this is the second surgery for Jairus Byrd with #Saints — knee & back in the spring. His contract was $54M over 6 years.

Talk of J. Byrd as "terrible FA signing" on my timeline...7 months into 6-year deal ($18.3M guaranteed). Spending big $$$ a slippery slope.
If Idzik made this deal in march he would've been called a genius, then 7 months later a complete moron.

Could not agree more. But then again you have guys like 55 being all up in arms with Idzik's 2nd year as to how we don't have an "ALL-PRO" squad out there.
Idzik has a plan and thank goodness he's sticking to it.
