I sort of get that. But it's still weird that a team clearing house is signing players with no GM. I understand they're not big signings, but still.

Rod Graves is handling all football related matters right now on an interim basis. There are loose ends that need to be tied up this time of year like reserve futures contracts. He won't be making any major decisions.

I would have a separate guy handling the cap and financial stuff, and let the GM handle the football side of things. Tough to get a true football guy that is also a financial wiz.

Kerry Hyder DE/DT 6'2"/280 was one of Rex's favorite players on the P.S.. Did we not re-sign him, or was he added to the Lions 53 ?

We were really lucky we did not have more players plucked off our P.S. this year. I thought for sure we'd lose Chris Pantale TE or Daryl Richardson RB with all the injuries in the league this year. It just goes to show that teams focus on winning teams, and stay away from losing programs. They figure that if a player is any count on a crappy team, that they'd already be on the 53.

Hyder was either not offered or didn't sign a reserve future contract with the Jets. He was in effect a free agent.
