Re: 2015 NFL Playoff thread
If that's the case, I think this calls for an official coverup by league offices. Can't have this kind of PR marring the buildup to the Super Bowl. Let's put Bob Kraft in charge of the competition committee and have them sort it out.

Really only leaves one plausible explanation, doesn't it?

Defective footballs!
That's the explanation I read by Pats trolls in the comments on the ESPN article. Hilarious!

Re: 2015 NFL Playoff thread
As NFL investigates Deflate-gate would be wise to speak to Ravens. Some there believe kicking balls used in their playoff game underinflated
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) January 21, 2015
There appeared to be less air in some kicking balls which may have had an impact on the depth of punts and kickoffs in AFC Divisional game

Re: 2015 NFL Playoff thread
I was under the impression that the officials kept possession of the kicking balls throughout the game, but whatever the case with that, this story is growing legs and running wild. On social media. even Pats fans are voicing disgust with the Patriots organization. This is more than just another black eye for Belicheat--he and the team might be facing some serious discipline. The integrity of the game is at stake here, and it will be very interesting to see how Goodell handles this with the Super Bowl looming and the Ray Rice fiasco still fresh in peoples' minds.

Re: 2015 NFL Playoff thread
The Ravens game allegations take this to a whole new level, because 1) it suggests a pattern of deliberate rule-breaking that goes back who knows how long, and 2) that was a very close game, unlike the Colts blowout, and if there were deflated kicking balls given to the Ravens, it may well have affected the outcome.

What sucks if even if it is proven the Pats cheated on the way to the SB they will still get to play in the game.

But they have lost any credibility they had. Every win is now suspect. The cloud hovering over Foxboro is much darker.NickSINYC wrote:GratefulJet wrote:The Ravens game allegations take this to a whole new level, because 1) it suggests a pattern of deliberate rule-breaking that goes back who knows how long, and 2) that was a very close game, unlike the Colts blowout, and if there were deflated kicking balls given to the Ravens, it may well have affected the outcome.

In the future, HOF voters need to keep all of this in mind(SpyGate too), especially in regards to Belichick.

They also were a little borderline on declaring themselves eligible or ineligible at the last second. And of course, they have run more borderline pick plays than any other team in history. But, you know, those are probably close enough to legal to be okay

Re: 2015 NFL Playoff thread
The Patriots are best in the league at pushing the envelope in terms of the rules. The best response is to punch them in mouth and to beat them at their own game. Rex was able to do the first, but completely unequipped mentally to do the second. Maybe Bowles is a little more clever. My hopes are high.

So Belichick didn't do it, Brady didn't do it...nobody did it.

Brady saying he couldn't tell the balls were underinflated is pretty absurd.

The cover-up is worse than the crime.
Hmm? Now WHO would have an interest in deflating 11 footballs?
Was the ball inflation device broken that day?

Sounded to me like a few of the reporters were setting up to go after Goodell asking questions like if the NFL really wants to get this resolved and put behind them isn't it odd they have not asked to speak with you more.

Michael Pineda can teach Brady a thing or two about how to make a ball do what you want it to.

Yeah but Pineda can use a little help from Brady about not getting caught
