Jets claim Wesley Johnson, place Brian Winters on injured reserve

The Jets will have a pair of new faces on the roster this week.
In addition to signing cornerback Josh Thomas, the Jets have claimed interior offensive lineman Wesley Johnson off of waivers from the Steelers. Thomas was acquired to help fill in for Dee Milliner after Milliner tore his Achilles and Johnson joins the club with Brian Winters exiting for the rest of the season. Winters tore his ACL in the loss to the Broncos and joined Milliner on injured reserve Monday.
Johnson was a fifth-round pick in May and lost his roster spot with the Steelers when they signed defensive back Ross Ventrone ahead of their Week Six game with the Browns. He has not played in a regular season game.
Oday Aboushi is expected to get the first crack at replacing Winters in the starting lineup at left guard. Aboushi and Winters split time at the position during the summer with Winters winning out in the end.
