BUT WHAT ABOUT JALEN SAUNDERS! RT @sportsfeedia: #Jets Amaro. He has more than 20 catches more than any other rookie tight end

This guy is so stupid, really.

Like drafting Richardson the year before makes up for Geno sucking...

Hey Joe, how has Pryor looked, does Amaro make up for that one too, or the 11 other draft picks not helping us on Sundays?

    Seriously.

And how does Joe know who picked Amaro? That may have been a Marty love fest, like McDougle was a Thurman love fest and Pryor was an Idzik love fest...

It is seriously hard to tell who deserves credit and blame for these miserable drafts the last two years.

yup....and it falls on Idzik to find smarter minds for the draft. There are stale names still employed that need to go and if Idzik can't recognize that or doesn't have a better candidate in mind then he is woefully unprepared for the enormity of being a GM.

55, that's not what he's saying. he's saying that ALL you hear about is the negative from the Jets beat. You NEVER hear them give equal time to the positive. It took Ian Rapoport of the NFL network to tweet out Amaro's stats and only the TOJ website retweeted. You hear nothing of Amaro, Ivory, Richardson(who has surpassed his rookie sack total halfway through his second season), etc. All you hear are petty shots. That's why Saunders is brought up by TOJ. They aren't excusing it, they just can't figure out why that is always brought up. Did you ever hear how horrible it was for Belichick to cut Kevin Oconnel( third round pick at qb) after only one season? I sure didn't.

Look, I know that when we're losing, anything that's positive that gets mentioned seems to get attacked. However, that TOJ site DOES point out plenty of negativity. They just do it without the childish name calling, exaggerations, and at times out right lies the beat writers use. TOJ also takes the time to provide actual analysis for their beliefs and extensive game film breakdowns instead of running smear campaigns to cost someone their job because they don't get inside information anymore. i mean the Daily News is great for those campaigns as well as information on headbands and tattoos, but I still prefer the work of the TOJ guys.

One thing no one on this site wants to hear, but is the cold hard truth...

Cimini and Mehta were right about the Jets, and we were wrong. The fact we didn't land the free agents or draft well and they put down the entire approach to this offseason...was 100% correct. I hate them both, but they were more right than us or the Jets pages.

Idzik and Rex sucked last off season and this season...they were right and we were all wrong, and we will be picking top 5 in April because of how pathetic the Jets organization is.

You can paint a pile of sh!t green if you want and hope it blends in with the grass by pointing out Amaro and Richardson...at the end of the day, the Jets are still a pile of sh!t...just like the beat writers tried to tell us.

Our comment section has reached point of people saying Amaro has been a disappointment and is a failed pick. Time to walk away for a bit.

This also comes from taking the Idzik and Rex hate too far.

You have to take each decision independent of one another and not blend them all together.

Harvin is still a good trade, IMO.

CJ2k, Decker, Ivory, Landry - good to great signings (yes, even CJ2k even if it doesnt pan out).

Garrard, Patterson, Goodson, Gia (RT) - not so much

Amaro and Richardson are great picks.

Milliner, Geno, Winters, Pryor, Evans, Saunders, and McDougle - were not good picks, or good picks where we took them (they can improve and develop, but right now, they would all grade out as C or worse draft grades as of today, even Milliner who caried over his injury concerns heading into the draft into his brief NFL career now having 8 surgeries the last 6 years).

I would grade the Amaro pick an A-; the problem is, some people look at Idzik's body of work and just throw an F on the entire thing. He can't be scored that way, IMO.

I'm still in the boat that says he deserves 2 more years, but if we win less than 5 games next year, get rid of him. He already appears over his head, he needs to do something next year to prove he isn't.

It didn't take Idzik long to have Jets fans throwing out we're back in the Kotite era; and for all the Mike T hate, he never had us this bad...and that's coming from someone who also couldn't wait till he was gone.

Idzik needs to clean out everyone's office in the building but his own and rebuild the entire organization...and start with anyone he listened, at any point of time, in the scouting department, because Idzik looks like a complete buffoon when it comes to evaluating college level talent right now. Hitting on 2 picks out of 20 shouldn't be applauded, IMO.

You can't cheer from the rafters on batting .100 on draft picks. Bill Polian said the good GMs bat 55% on draft picks while everyone else bats ~50%; Idzik is batting 10% right now. That's a problem when you preach building through the draft.

A lot of very fair points, but I'm a little more patient in assessing drafts than you are.  I'm not ready to flush 7/8 of one draft after 1 1/2 seasons or 11/12 of another after half a season, particularly when you put it in perspective of poor coaching and injuries.  I know you are smarter than that, but I get the effect.

    Not true.

After the final preseason game, Mehta predicted us to go 9-7, and Cimini predicted us to go 8-8. Both had us missing the playoffs. Both saw who was and wasn't on the roster when they made those predictions. If they weren't too busy trying to get the gm fired that's been here for 1.5 years, maybe they could've seen the pattern of poor player development, poor discipline, poor usage of personnel, etc under Ryan since 2011(2 years prior to the arrival of the gm they hate), and hold him accountable too. However, that's not part of their agenda.

So based in you theory, if we remove Rex and staff and win less than 5 games next year, completely blowing up this theory, can you start allocating some blame Mr Untouchable's way?

I never said he's untouchable, and in the idzik thread, I posted a pretty fair evaluation of his job thus far. We have no idea how the players he's drafted are going to turn out. Look at Farrior when he was a Jet. A complete non factor until his final year here and then blossoms with the Steelers. I'd like to see Idzik's picks actually play before I call them busts. Rex has proven over 6 years to be in over his head as a HC. Idzik hasn't even gotten two years yet and he doesn't have his coach. I'm not saying it's going to work out, I'm saying he deserves a chance to make it work. As has been noted, Ryan has had multiple qb's, oc's gm's, personnel, etc and the issues with the team are the same year after year.

Show me how many teams are getting significant contributions from multiple picks of the 2014 draft. also, it's not "my theory'. It's fact. The issues with this team have been building for years and the one true constant is Ryan. I love when people say "give Rex a true franchise qb and see how good a coach he is". I'd be a good coach with a true franchise qb.

This is when it gets a bit ridiculous. Anyone who isn't going around with pitchforks and torching calling for Idzik to be tarred and feathered is in the tank for him, and refuses to criticize anything he does.

Come on, 55, you are far more sophisticated than that. You know that it's possible to criticize some of his moves without wanting him fired yet. It's not black and white.

What the heck? Every thread I said Idzik needs his own scouting department and coaching staff to fairly evaluate him (but if another 3 win season comes our way, he's fair game, IMO).

I also am not going after Rex at this point because I assume it is a foregone conclusion he's going to be fired, so why beat a dead horse? I don't disagree with 51's points on rex, those are facts, so why repeat points already made?

I think someone above referenced which teams are having impacts from multiple rookies at this point in the season?

Dallas - how big of a difference has Martin made to the oline and Durant to the defense? Cowboys went from talk of the worst defense of all time to lock to make the play-offs.

Packes - Clinton-dix, Linsey, and WR Adams are looking like a top rookie class...

    vs

Jags - another top rookie class with Bortles, Hurns, Robinson, and Lee...

Raiders - Mack and Carr do look like long term building blocks, IMO, even if I dont love Carr.

Cards - Deone Buchanon HYATT and I said was the absolute best safety in this draft class. We were right by miles. They have this guy on their team, John Brown...absolutely awesome.

Falcons - Jake Matthews and DT Hageman have been very good!

Bears, Panthers, Saints, Rams, and Bills - it's one players, but I love Fuller, Benjamin, Cooks, Aaron Donald, and Sammy Watkins like they are two. Smile

Calling Idzik Mr. Untouchable? You know what you were doing there.

He's not untouchable. He's not above heavy criticism. I just wouldn't send him packing yet.

Vick had more than 2/3s (25) of his targets to Harvin and Decker. Cumberland was the only TE  to be targeted and it was only 2 times. IMO hard to blame Amaro he will be a player in this league mark my words

I wasn't blaming him, I was just saying we NEED these two to pan out. They must, and hopefully McDougle becomes someone we can use as well.

For Amaro, it's hard to have a good day when you're not playing a lot of reps and are not targeted.

Second thought: Jace Amaro has 32 catches on 39 targets (83%). There should never be a game he isn't targeted, especially when...

    Joe Caporoso @TurnOnTheJets · 21h 21 hours ago
...Jeff Cumberland has managed to be targeted on three "nine" routes over the past two weeks. #Jets

I laugh at the Martavis or Moncrief tweets because they'd go weeks here without a target so TJ Graham could get more looks #Jets

This makes no sense. Cumberland nearly doubling Amaro in snaps. Poor in run blocking too. (h/t @PFF) #NYJ
