It seems as if the Rex of old is back. Yet, he is much wiser and diligent than when he first took the job. Sure he's always been brash, but the years of not making the playoffs has humbled him a bit these last 3 season.
After John & Woody extended his contract and have complimented him with a competitive team with an actual plan for the present and future, it seems Rex has his swagger back.
The team rallied around him last year like no other none playoff team has. They have his back & it has transitioned onto this year. The 2014 Rex has his confidence back and last week it showed (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-sound-efx/0ap3000000393606/Sound-FX-Jets-fly-high-Week-1). He's animated, he's fueled and his players are feeding off of his passion for the game.
There are no more "ME PLAYERS" to worry about. Every individual has accountability. Idzik has built around Rex what he always needed in the first place, a team ready to go to war for him no matter the opponent. It was evident in '09 & '10. Yet when Mike Tannenbaum began to tamper with that philosophy, things went very south for Rex & the organization.
Kudos to Woody Johnson for keeping Rex instead of listening to the media and many loyal fans who wanted to just clean house. It seems he understood that the offensive power houses can only get so far if they have absolutely no defense to lock up the victory. With Rex we will always have a top 5 monster on that side of the ball. Now with an offense that has the fire power to keep up with the best of them, Rex can be the Rex we all loved from the very beginning.
