Been loving this kid all year, I have watched everyone of his games. and his performance in the bowl game right now is only making me want him more..He is outplaying Connor Cook. His accuracy is great. He has good pocket awareness.. Read somewhere on the board someone saying he isn't good under pressure but they may have seen a small sample of him. He is above average against pressure. Picks up blitzes at the line and gets to his hot read or audibles. His timing on throws is very good... Very smart QB... Not the strongest arm but strong enough.. He knows when to throw the football... Which is more important than a strong arm... My only concern is like Geno he's never under center... Some QBs cannot make that adjustment of going through progressions and reading what the D is doing after the snap as they are dropping back... (See Geno)... Like Geno worth taking a 2nd Rd pick on a lot of upside... He needs to work on his craft

Too high meaning too late, or too early? I am reading that as desperate as many are to find a franchise QB that Petty may go as early as mid 1st or sooner.

demand doesn't make him a better QB. He's a system guy, so I'd be cautious and let the postseason workouts provide more analysis. Same goes for Mariota. These system guys are right now an unknown...but if you want to look how the last Baylor QB fared, I'd be wary of Petty.

Re: Bryce Petty
Seaver, If you have watched Petty any this season, how can you say he is a 6th or 7th round talent ? IMO, Petty might now sneak into the late first round after his bowl game. And is it really fare to compare Bryce Petty to RG3 because they both played @ Baylor ? Plus, I don't think we've seen the last of RG3 quite yet.
As of today, I'd pick Petty over Winston as my future QB after both of their Bowl games. Plus I can't stand to see a player getting in a Coaches face for any reason. Jimbo Fisher has been "covering" for Winston too long, and I'd bet he'll be glad when he's gone !

Re: Bryce Petty
Just because you play in a system doesn't necessarily make you a system QB. Petty doesn't run the read option crap that Mariota or RG3 did. All season he's showed the ability to stand tall in the pocket, read the field, and make surprisingly live throws down the field. Kid has a much livelier arm than he I think he gets credit for.
The knocks on Petty I've seen are:
-only an average athlete
-not exceptionally big and strong
-sometimes accuracy can be inconsistent in spurts (other times he gets on quite a roll)
I think top of round 2 is perfect for him and he would represent an upgrade over Geno.
