I said probably. Woody may have believed in him, but Woody is very concerned about public perception, perhaps too much.

I'm not saying Idzik shouldn't go. I'm saying Woody should not allow public opinion to steer the ship.

Bring in Brian Billick as HC / President of Football Operations, demote Idzik to capologist, and leave Jeff Bauer & Terry Bradway in Scouting until the draft, then re-evaluate. Keep Rex as our Ast. HC / DC & Marty as our OC. No one gets fired, just hire Billick. He's one tough smart HC.

You're just a big softee, Cy, lol. No one gets fired, no one's feelings get hurt too bad. I think Woody is going to ask for a few heads to be removed and placed on spikes outside the entrance. The Casserly comments from early in the year are pretty damning for Idzik, and Woody is very sensitive to angry horde of Jets fans who buy PSLs and tickets. I wouldn't mind the scenario you describe, except that all the dysfunction currently in place would remain and get worse. What's the point of bringing in Billick as the top dawg to clean up this mess if he has to work with all the people who made the mess in the first place. There's a clear disconnect between Rex and Marty, and between Idzik and the Bradway camp. While the back end of Idzik's 2014 draft may prove to be a sleeper, the Pryor selection at 18 is proving a disaster in the short term. Even if he ends up being a great player down the road, it was a bit of a reach and didn't address one of our big need areas whereas multiple players on the board did. The CB situation is Idzik's biggest Achilles heel, followed by Geno and his development (or lack thereof), and then the WR situation at #3.
