If Cincy had a better QB and they could stay healthy, they would be contenders for a championship this year. That roster is loaded.

Re: List of GM candidates
A name that has emerged is the Vikings assistant General Manager George Patton. The Jets had interest in him two years ago and declined. The Dolphins had interest last year and he also declined.
Maybe with Casserley & Wolf heading the search he may even have a sit down with us.
Heres his bio:
{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_S._Patton}
oops wrong one, but I bet he'd do wonders here.
Here's the one rumors are talking about:

I don't want to hear any reports that we're holding our draft pick, we aren't holding onto anything, except Tom Brady - we're gonna grab him by the neck and kick him in t n e @$$! - General (Manager) George Paton

Early odds for GM/HC shifting toward Kirchner/Quinn. I guess we can just keep hiring Seattle guys till we get the ones who know what's going on.

Seems like every year for about the last 5-6 years, I look at who they got after the draft is over, and I say to myself "Damn!"

Kirchner came from the Packers organization originally when Schneider became the gm.

Sarge, do you think Decosta will ever leave? If I was him, I'd be getting tired of empty promises. If I remember correctly, Newsome was going to retire a few years ago.

A lot of names are going to be thrown around over the next week. Person to keep an eye on though is former 49ers GM Scot McCloughan. #nyj

Ron Wolf is Scot McCloughan's mentor and one of his dad's best friends.. Wolf gave McCloughan his first job in Green Bay in 1994..

Great read. Is he worth the risk? If Wolf signs off................

great read. but i think it's just too much of a risk. if you look at his last job, he was hired by someone he considered a close friend, and the close friend had to let him go. so even if wolf were to sign off, you can never be sure that he has faced down and defeated his drinking problems. and you'd be taking a huge gamble on him, especially when you add in the NY media market.

That's what I was thinking as well Hobson. He did mention other roles he could be interested in. Maybe he could do work for us from home. Also saw this...........

#Jets are expected to make a significant push for #Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta, per source. Many have tried for the respected executive

love hearing they will make a big push for decosta. he seems to be the hottest name annually but never leaves baltimore. not sure if this time will be different, but it can't hurt to try

I was hoping by this point we would have heard about more scheduled interviews and not just names being floated. As far as I know it is just the 2 Seattle interviews this weekend.

Baltimore's Eric DeCosta drawing big NFL interest. Jets asking again, after a hard run in '13. Bears unlikely as long as Phillips is there.

There are tangible incentives for Eric DeCosta to stay in Baltimore, succeed Ozzie Newsome as Ravens GM. Would be an upset if he left.

If the HC had any kind of control over his players they might be more efficient. I see that team as a collection of kids with talent and no discipline. It's like taking a inner city playground basketball team and putting them up against a college team and asking them to play by the rules.
They take too many stupid penalties related to dumbass players. I don't see them winning with that formula. I'm not a big fan of the Ginger at QB either. middle of the road talent who would need better pieces/units around him.....but that gets back to the whole lack of discipline that results in stupid penalties/loss of field position.

Jets got permission and will interview Bill Kuharich, Trent Kirchner, Mike Maccagnan and Rick Mueller for their GM spot over the next 5 days
If I was guessing, I think Maccagnan is Casserly's "guy", and Kirchner would be Wolf's guy. It's also interesting to note that Wolf has a philosophy of hiring offensive guys to be HC. In his book, "The Packer Way", he noted that he hired only one defensive guy (Rhodes) as HC, and he fired him after one season.

Jets haven't gotten final word back yet from Eric DeCosta or George Paton. Both are considering whether to decline or accept an interview.
Paton seems a little like Decosta in that in previous years, he's declined interviews with teams(most recently the Dolphins in 2014).

Common thread with Jets GM candidates - guys like Rick Mueller, George Paton and Mike Macagnan - pure, extensive scouting backgrounds.

Vikings asst. GM George Paton is staying in Minnesota. Will NOT interview with Bears or Jets.

Paton has been a hot commodity and is getting hotter. Played a big role in restocking Vikings roster, is well respected in league circles.

Mort is reporting that the Iggles severed tied with Tom Gamble.
I'd say he's absolutely worth a look. He has Jets ties, has been highly coveted as a GM candidate, and has a strong personnel background.

He was my choice when we went with Idzik. I wonder where we would be now if it worked out that way. He would be a good get now.
