    Matt Simms Empty Matt Simms

    Post by NYJETSDAN16 Mon 27 Oct 2014 - 11:33

At this point, where the Geno project has been officially deemed a failure, there is no reason to start Mike Vick. If the season was still within reach, i'd advocate to start Vick.  Yet at this junctior, there is another young gun slinger who really never got his chance in Matt Simms.

I'am by no stretch of the imagination saying he's our answer to our QB issues, but atleast evaluate what he has to offer.
We know what Geno is, We know what Vick was & still is.  Though Simms is an anomaly we can all concur that know one really knows for sure.

Simms is on the team no matter how we slice it. If he proves to be a joke, then atleast we'll know that practice/ active roster spot can be given to someone else. Or he may turn out to be our very own Brian Hoyer.

The verdicts has been given to two of our current QB's, yet the jury is still out on Matt Simms.

At this point, it is the only move that makes sense. Geno is not the answer. Vick is too old to be the long-term answer - if you had a chance this year, play Vick. But that chance has passed.

May as well see what you have in Simms, and if he fails, use the high pick on a top QB.

Before we clean house, why not give Simms a shot ? He's a tall strong pocket passer, with a big arm. Our OL is better equipped for a pocket passer without happy feet. We know he's from a good pedigree of QB's. Give Simms a shot.

It's a no-lose situation. If he's good, he's our backup in 2015. If he stinks, we gave him a decent tryout, and secure a top 5-6 draft pick.

Absolutely! Jeff Blake was a 3rd stringer and he turned out okay.

because every team passed on him when he was available after the Jest cut him and resigned him. I am not saying not to use him because God knows he can not be any worse then Geno. Just commenting on the fact that he essentially was a free agent and no one called... to me that means something.

I have said this before. The correct move at this point is give Simms some starts and lets get some further evaluation done on him. I honestly don't think he will prove to be the answer at QB but he may prove his worth to still be on the roster next year.

True, but you're never sure until he has the shot. Before Bledsoe got taken out, I'm not sure many teams would have picked up Brady on the wire if he was available. He was a sixth round pick who had yet to prove himself.

I'm certainly not saying Simms will become Brady. I'm saying we don't know what he could become.

Since Simms got elevated leads me to believe he will back up Vick tomorrow vs KC.
I feel the staff is just fed up with Geno Smith inability to seize this tremendous opportunity.
I honestly hope Simms takes full advantage when his number is officially called this year. Maybe just maybe, we won't have t develop another young QB in next years draft if Simms becomes our Tom Brady.

Obviously this is extreme wishful thinking, but there is excellent depth on the offensive side of the ball. If a young gun can make a couple of plays here and there, he can automatically stamp his name for next years roster to compete for the starting job.

I truly hope Simms backs up Mike tomorrow. Vick always plays relentless and gets injured all the time. Who knows, maybe, just maybe a star may be born at Arrowhead.
