#Jets are expected to sign WR Jeremy Kerley to a 4-year extension some time today, per league source.

#NYJ now with Decker, JK, Amaro locked up long term, if Harvin is right. He'll be too. Talented group of pass catchers for QB to grow with

    Joe Caporoso @TurnOnTheJets · 5m 5 minutes ago
If you've been following #TOJ for awhile, you know how I feel about Kerley and his game, thrilled about #NYJ bringing him back

    Joe Caporoso @TurnOnTheJets · 5m 5 minutes ago
Ignore recency bias of last few games. Kerley has been consistently productive for this team despite below average QB play #Jets

    Joe Caporoso @TurnOnTheJets · 2m 2 minutes ago
In 8/12 games played last year, Kerley had at least 3 receptions. In 2012, Kerley had 56/827/2 with Sanchez/Tebow/McElroy and no other WRs

This is another reason why we saved the cap space. Wilkerson, Snacks(unless Rex is fired and/or we switch to a 4-3), and Davis on deck.

Terrific move locking up the reliable Kerley for 4 years. Now #Jets need to get him more involved, despite Harvin move. Different-type WRs.

What part of this resigning makes wasting a 4th rd pick okay? Seriously, the guy was cut 5 weeks into his rookie season.

This does not negate the fact Idzik drafts poorly. The fact he is forced to resign a Mike T player, and trade for others, because he drafts poorly, and his own picks do not develop, speaks volumes.

Sometimes I can't stand your boy, 51. Too much of a homer.

This, resigning Kerley and trading for Harvin, are huge positives, let's leave it at that and not pretend it hides Idzik's shortcomings...it doesn't.

Why doesn't Joe just come out and say, thank god Mike T drafted Kerley?

You know who pushed him to make that pick...Brian Shottenheimer. Joe needs to calm down on patting himself and Idzik on the back for the credit Mike T and garbage Brian S deserve. What's next, giving Idzik credit for drafting Mangold? Evil or Very Mad

I see the signing coming at the proper time. I believe he held off extending players and using cap space until he was sure if he needed any of it this year. Once he made the trade he knew how much space he actually had and finalized the Kerley extension. Smart IMO

he's saying that the Jets beat likes to pound the negativity like a dead horse, and they're getting trumped by outsiders breaking news. yes, Saunders was a bad pick. Ok, time to move on. He was replace by Powell who has shown flashes. The Jets beat would rather create a mock conversation between Ryan/ Idzik then actually do something productive.

Saunders gets more ink than Richardson, Ivory, Decker, Amaro, etc. Also, Idzik's inherited Kerley(not much else on offense) and was able to resign him early because he didn't act like Tannenbaum this offseason. He realized that this team still needs work.

Emanuel Sanders/ Kerley......... remember, we were supposed to sign Sanders which would've proved how smart Idzik is Rolling Eyes . Let's not forget that Sanders put up his numbers with Big Ben, and Kerley had Sanchez/McElroy/Tebow then a rookie in Geno. I still LOL at the comment that Kerley wouldn't see the field on elite offensive teams. If Sanders is doing his thing with Manning, then Kerley could be doing the same.

51 - this is a Kerley thread, and we can not stray too far from the path, but "if Idzik followed the Mike T model," and say signed DJax, we'd have an extra 5 mill in cap space and 1 extra draft pick in next year's draft and more cap space next year in money roll over.

I would say the risk of both malcontents is about the same. DJax is slightly more accomplish and way more polished at WR.

Nothing Idzik did this week by trading draft picks for players with big cap #s this week is any different from Mike T, and if he did it in free agency instead of now, our cap situation and draft pick status would better than it is now.

Idzik is learning a hard lesson right now, the point is he appears to have learned it. If he spent the money in the spring instead of now, this thread might be titled Mo Wilkerson resigned instead of Jeremy Kerley. Instead, $10 mill is going to Harvin instead of $3.5 to DJax, so resigning a more economical Kerley makes sense.

Now, I'm glad we have Harvin and Kerley, but adding a guy in October for a draft pick and $10.5 mill per season sounds exactly like Mike T...exactly...

Lets calm down on the Saint Idzik talk a little here.
Saint Idzik pre-Friday has us 1-6. Now he realized he completely screwed up (no news to me) and is trying to make up for it. Great job by Idzik landing Harvin, it's what I've been begging for since February, just stinks it took a 1-6 record (more likely 1-5) for him to realize he dropped the ball. I'm sure Idzik in his heart wAsnt excited to pay Harvin more than DJax, Tate, Sanders, Cooper, Maclin, Nicks, and Lafell got for whole seasons for 9 games of Harvin. But that's the price you pay for sleeping on the job. Lets hope for our cap and draft situation, he doesn't do it again.

Read my post above on Sanders/Kerley. Also, as far as Jackson is concerned, IMO MM and Vick didn't give as glowing of an endorsement behind the scenes to Idzik. Jackson also hasn't made a difference in Washington's record either. Not to mention that the Jets don't owe Harvin a penny after this year unless they choose to keep him. Totally un- Tannenbaum- like. We can sign Wilkerson tomorrow..... Harvin hasn't prevented that from happening. please, look back at the 2010 and 2011 Seahawks including draft picks, trades, free agents, etc and you will see eery similarities to what Idzik is doing his first two years. Too many want the Seahawks of 2012 and 2013 right now with the Jets and it's just not possible nor is it how it was done.

You can "LOL" at it all you want but Kerely is NOT better than Harry Douglas or hester, Sanue, welker, hicks or Wayne, randel or Beckham, Johnson or holding, Floyd or royal, or Scott from Det.

The idea that Kerely is nearly as good as Sanders is laughable in my opinion. Kerely is simply not nearly as explosive. It's not close.

Kerely is NOT an acceptable #2 for a professional offense. Kerlely IS and quality #3 for this team. It's a solid signing.
